How it works
A LuBooks book is a complete story, written and illustrated in advance, in which your child takes the place of the hero. Here is how it is made, step by step.
1. You choose the hero
Boy or girl, hair, skin tone: you choose from our painted heroes the one who looks most like your child. Each hero has been illustrated on every page of the book, with the same face and the same outfit from beginning to end. No photo of your child is needed to order.
If you wish, you can also send a photo to see your child as an illustrated hero, free of charge, in a few minutes and with no sign-up: the photo stays private and is deleted after 24 hours.
2. You write the first name, the name of a loved one in the story and your dedication
The first name appears in the title, on the cover and throughout the text, with the right pronouns (he or she). Depending on the book, your child spends vacation at Grandma’s (The Magic Forest), invents things with Mom (The Cardboard Rocket) or lives by the harbor with Dad (The Wind Dragon): you can give them the name your child really uses. Finally, your dedication opens the book, on page 3.
The first name and the dedication are typeset, never painted into the images: the spelling and accents are exact.
3. You page through the preview
The cover and the first pages update with your choices. Before you pay, a summary shows everything you have chosen, and you can go back to any step.
4. We make the book
- Digital book (PDF): the file is made automatically, checked (text, pages, images), then made available on your order page. You receive an email as soon as it is ready.
- Printed book: the print files are prepared and checked, then sent to a print-on-demand printer (Peecho, which sells you the book), which makes your copy individually and ships it. You receive tracking by email when the shipment has it. The digital book (PDF) of the same book is free: you can download it from your order page as soon as the print files are approved.
Optional: the audiobook
The whole story read aloud, with your child’s first name, in MP3 format. It is created after the order, from the final text of your book, by a synthetic voice (ElevenLabs), always the same one. You listen to it on your order page or download it.
What about artificial intelligence?
Our illustrations are created with the help of an image model (Google Gemini) from original, fictional characters. They are not generated when you order: each hero is painted once for the whole book, then each page is reviewed and failed images are redone (hands, clothes, consistency with the story). The text is written in French, adapted into English for books in English, then proofread.
